Expiration date is no joke. I was beginning to think CSS was a new acronym for Crazy Single Studs. After hours of watching YouTube for CSS dance, CSS rap songs, and other manifestations of a world I am too old for or have the right plumbing I think I figured out CSS doesn’t mean crazy single stud at all. Nor does it mean crusty single studmuffin, or crabbie single sister.
CSS is kind of like rock’n roll for midcybers. Those of us 40+ (in my dreams!) do not belong to the the teencybers, young turk-cybers, youthful-cybers, or up and coming cybers. We are the midcybers.
Now granted I’m no spring chicken, but I swear I’m never going to be able to sleep again in order to keep up with technology. Most people my age think I’m a freaking genius computer guru nerd. And I don’t know squattolo….now imagine Jack Welch sitting at his computer. Think he’s playing around with CSS?
I sold my first company about 15 years ago, and back then I had no idea how to operate a computer. I asked my assistant to do “stuff” and I figured she magically made things happen.
Was I daft? Yes!!! Maybe a tad wacked? Absolutely!! And I had no idea!! It took me years to learn what I have about computers and everyone in my house thinks I’m a geek. Most of my friends think I’m a computer whiz………and the rest think I’m a nerd. Now I wish I was a computer nerd, but I don’t know squat. That’s evidenced by the fact that I was thinking CSS was a CRAZY SINGLE STUD!
I could only wish I was a computer nerd right now! So for all you out there that are over 40 you better learn techno language or you’ll be put out for expiration date. I have listed some great sites on my blog here, but some particularly helpful ones are:
CSS Selectors, Properties, and Values | HTML Dog
http://www.w3schools.com/
http://wordpress.com/products/custom-css/
http://rubyonrails.com/screencasts
http://www.redmonk.com/jgovernor/
I personally love to read James Governor……he keeps it simple, easy for us golden oldies to understand and doesn’t make us feel like we’re technoretards. Check out his blog and keep going back……he’s also got a great sense of humor which I love!
Turtle steps…….besides, we can’t move any faster than that anyway!
